Why does a 50-bracelet kit contain 1000 letter beads? That’s a lot!

We love this question! Ready for a little math?

The most common letter in Hebrew names is yud (י), present in ~70% of Hebrew names. So we expect we’ll need ~35 yud letters for 50 different names.

The bead alphabet contains 27 letters, so 1000 beads will contain 1000/27 = ~37 yud letters.

The 1000 beads are a random mix of letters (not an equal number of each letter), and you’ve got a random mix of friends, so this math is approximate. If you run out of the letters needed for a given name, be creative with other phrases like סבבה (“awesome”), אהבה (“love”), אמא/אבא מספר אחד (“number one Mom/Dad”), etc.

Why does a 50-bracelet kit contain 2000 colored beads? That’s a lot!

A big bracelet is about 40 beads. Ready for just a little more math?

40 beads per bracelet * 50 bracelets = 2000 beads.

Why does a 50-bracelet kit contain 20 meters of elastic? That’s a lot!

We recommend you cut the elastic into 35cm lengths for bracelets, for an easy time threading the beads. 50 bracelets * 35cm/each = 17.5 meters.
