Party setup

Before your guests arrive, perform a few simple steps to keep your party running smoothly:

  • Prepare the elastic:
    • Cut the elastic for bracelets, using regular scissors. Roughly 35cm per bracelet will be easy to work with.
    • Next, stretch out each piece of elastic a few times. If you don’t do this, the bracelet will get bigger when wearing it, as the elastic naturally stretches – you will end up needing to retie it tighter after wearing it.
    • No special equipment is required for assembling the bracelets – beads will slip easily onto the ends of the elastic.
  • Leave out the elastic roll in case someone has non-bracelet ideas!
  • Split the letter beads among a few bowls.
  • Split the colored filler beads among a few bowls.

Tying bracelets closed

Before tying off the bracelet, it is important to stretch out the elastic a few times, if you have not already.

Brush off those scouting skills! A simple double-knot will work, but elastic bracelets will be most secure when tied with a surgeon’s knot or modified surgeon’s knot. A quick video shows how:
